About the CRC

The Center for Retail Compliance (CRC) is an initiative of the Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA). Beginning in 2014, the CRC was developed to meet the retail industry's most critical environmental compliance needs. It acts as a one-stop resource to help link to regulations, regulatory guidance, and other useful information; as well as training and industry leading environmental compliance practices. The CRC is intended for all sizes and types of retailers.

WHY THE Center for retail compliance

Today's retailers face an environmental compliance landscape that is governed by a patchwork of federal and state laws and regulations, many of which were not originally developed for the retail industry. In addition, the majority of environmental compliance resources were not designed for the retail industry. The CRC helps retailers navigate this regulatory space with the goal of enhancing compliance for individual companies and across the industry as a whole.

Vision

The vision for the CRC is to develop a resource that will help retailers develop, enhance, and evaluate their compliance programs. A system that:

  • Provides targeted information in a way that encourages a systematic approach to compliance
  • Makes it easy to find not just the information a retailer is looking for but also the information they need
  • Views sustainability as a way to reduce regulatory requirements
  • Is more than a website-- a real Center that provides value added resources and a community to help build capacity in the industry

The CRC Team

  • Tiffin Shewmake, Director, Center for Retail Compliance
  • Adam Siegel, Vice President of Sustainability & Compliance
  • Erin Hiatt, Senior Manager of Sustainability & Compliance
